[ALGTOP-L] Postdoc positions at the EPFL

The algebraic topology group <http://hessbellwald-lab.epfl.ch/>  of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) invites applications for full-time postdoctoral positions in pure and applied algebraic topology. 

The position in "pure" algebraic topology has a starting date of 1 September 2017 and is open to all candidates with a PhD from no earlier than 2013 who have shown promise of research excellence.

The starting date for the positions in applied algebraic topology is flexible.  These positions are reserved for candidates interested in applying topology to neuroscience, as they will be working in collaboration with the Blue Brain Project <http://bluebrain.epfl.ch/> .  Experience with programming is essential, and some knowledge of machine learning and/or neuroscience would be an advantage, though not necessary.  Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD from no earlier than 2013.

In addition to research, duties of the future postdoc will include teaching within the framework of the Mathematics Section of the EPFL.  

EPFL salaries are highly competitive (currently  80K-90K Swiss francs per year before taxes, depending on experience).  The topology group has considerable travel money available for postdocs, as well as a generous budget for inviting guests throughout the year.
