Moritz Epple is a professor of the history of science at Frankfurt
He has written extensively on the history of mathematics, including knot
It is somewhat unfortunate that his 1999 book "Die Entstehung der
Kontexte und Konstruktionen einer modernen mathematischen Theorie"
on the early development of knot theory has not yet been translated into
English. But many of his papers were published in English, such as the
"Geometric Aspects in the Development of Knot Theory" in the
1999 volume "History of Topology".
